November can be a tough month for me. Summer is in the rear view mirror, and winter is soon to be in full swing. The leaves are gone, the lakes begin to freeze, and the critters settle in to hibernate. Everything around me is changing.
It's often said, “change is the only constant.” This definitely seems to be the case. We're surrounded by its unfamiliarity. Change can be very exciting, but it can also be quite terrifying. It's uncomfortable. We want to go back to what we know, somewhere safe.
Whether the change is a new beginning or the end of a job, relationship, or whatever it may be... I find it encouraging to look at it as an opportunity. Change is an opportunity to trust God and His plans for my life.
I'm thankful for change because it grows us. Change inspires us. It can show you who you are, who you're not, and who you're becoming. Whether it's good or bad, we can meditate on Jeremiah 29:11, “For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.”
Proverbs 3:5-6 “Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take.”
In this season of change, I want to encourage you to focus on Jesus. Trust His plans for your life. Trust in His direction. You may not know what your future holds, but He does. To me, that's very good news!
